Quote of the Day

(Bonnie has a runny nose which I think is probably a sinus infection.)

As we were sitting down to breakfast: "My buddahs ah boddering me!"

Translation: "My boogers are bothering me!"

Reason #1 Why We Live in Texas

I took my own bluebonnet pictures this year, so you get what you pay for but I think they're pretty cute. I also noticed a big ol' fingerprint - after the fact, of course - on the lens. This is due to the fact that we have a 3-year-old photographer in the house. Hence the somewhat cloudy pictures. My favorites are the 2nd and 3rd pictures. I don't have Summer's talent of getting my kids to smile adoringly at the camera all at the same time (and she has 4 kids!).

Warms a Mother's Heart

Heard as K and B were playing outside this morning:

K: I love you so much.

B: I love YOU so much.

K: You're the best sister.

B: You're the best brother.

I'm glad to know that's what they're really thinking when they're yelling and fighting with each other.

News and More News

Some of you know some of these things and some of you know all of these things, but some of you know none of these things...

I had my 20 week sonogram today, and, praise God, everything looks good and healthy with Baby. Oh, and she's a girl, I'm excited to say. No name yet, but we'll keep y'all updated. Kellen is OK with the fact that there is going to be another little sister, because (he informs us) there is a baby boy growing in his tummy. I think another girl will balance things out quite nicely.

In other news, Josh has accepted a position as head basketball coach at Liberty High School. So, we'll be moving. (Liberty is halfway in between Houston and Beaumont, and the high school is a 3A size.) Josh is excited for this opportunity, and I'm excited for the opportunity to move in to a bigger house.=) We don't have many details about moving, etc. but if anyone needs a house in College Station we have one we'll sell you!

Stock Show and Test Results

We loaded up the van today with all the cousins we could find (and their mother) and headed down to Houston for the Livestock Show to see what is to be seen, which is a lot. The kids had a great time (although this picture doesn't prove it). Pig races
OK, I didn't take any other pictures. We were kind of busy keeping everyone corraled. But I did learn that cows only have bottom teeth, none on the top (or is it the other way around?). And I saw the mom of a former student whose sister had just won 3rd in the Limousin steer competition.
And Josh passed his principal exam with flying colors. He only has 4 more classes (I think) before he graduates from ACU in December with a Masters in Leadership of Learning with a Conflict Resolution certificate.

Baseball

I'm definitely a fair-weather baseball fan, literally. I feel no obligation to be a rabid supporter of any sport that Josh doesn't get paid to coach, so if it's too cold or too hot I'm out. There are about 3 or 4 games per year when it is not too cold or too hot. Yesterday was 75 degrees with a cool breeze, so we were for sure at the baseball field.
These children look sweet and innocent, but they are unaware of baseball etiquette. The baby in front of us started crying after a couple of seconds of Kellen and Bonnie screaming at the tops of their little lungs, "GO TIGERS!!!" (No, guys, these are the Aggies.) "GO AGGIES!!!!" You see, there's not much screaming at baseball games, especially at random times. After the baby started crying, the people in front of us made their opinion known to each other, but of course loud enough for us to hear. What can I say? We got spirit, yes we do!

A Trip up North and Pulling the Plug

Josh goes to the state basketball tournament every year to hang out with his friends, so I usually try to take a little trip at the same time. This year I took the kids to visit my mom and grandmother. My grandmother is a shut-in so the only time we get to see her is when we go there. Here they are making cookies with Granny (p.s. I'm pretty sure my mom never made cookies with me.). We got a couple of inches of snow, so we just stayed inside for 2 days. Here's the snow on our van.
Luckily, Granny's house is stocked with much fun to be had. There's playing on the slide...
...watching movies...
...and playing dress-up with my grandparents' cowboy hat and fishing hat.

On another subject, we've "pulled the plug" on Bonnie and she has been without her pacifier for the past 2 days. She willingly threw it in the trash in exchange for a new toy (bribery is how we do things around here), but she's had a little bit of a hard time adjusting to life without her adored "patsy."

Easter Egg Hunt

Today was time again for our church's annual Easter egg hunt. This is always a fun time of fellowship for adults and children. We had a great time this year. Kellen is an egg-hunting pro and was off and running: There's a funny story behind this picture. When we were talking about the hunt early this morning Kellen told us that he was going to get all the blue eggs. OK, whatever. Well, I forgot that he said that but he didn't. I noticed he was going from spot to spot picking eggs, rather than just getting all the ones close to him. After I saw what was in his basket I told Josh we'd probably need to go ahead and retain the psychologist because Kellen might have a touch of OCD.
Kellen and Daniel are big buddies. Such a cute picture.

Evidence of his Y-chromosome. What little girl would ever start jumping over her Easter basket just to see if she could?

This was Bonnie's first year to hunt eggs. She had a great time.
