Ezra

We were in Lubbock for a week spending time with family, roofing (that would be Josh), and welcoming our new nephew!

I haven't uploaded pictures yet, but you can see some on Lesley's blog.

I got to go see him for a little while after he was born on Tuesday, and then again on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was time for us to come home after that.

We're enjoying the last few days of Josh being home (we went to the aquarium in Dallas today), and Kellen starts school (full-time PreK) at a Christian school on August 20. Bonnie will be going to preschool on Mondays and Wednesdays at our church starting in September. Oh, and Noelle turns 1 next Sunday.

That's the update for now...

Bonnie's Glasses

All of our kids come from a long line of people who can't see. Bonnie is pretty farsighted with a good dose of astigmatism. We picked up her glasses today, and went to the hibachi restaurant to celebrate that we only had to retrace our steps in the library one time to find glasses that had been left on the floor. And the glasses were only slightly bent. Little steps.

If anyone wants to leave a comment encouraging Bonnie in her new glasses-wearing life, I will gladly read them to her! Pretty cute, huh?

UPDATE: We went to Walmart on the way to church tonight. Bonnie was sitting in the basket and took off her glasses and sat on them and bent them up pretty well. Luckily we were already at Walmart (where we bought the glasses) and so just went to have them unbent at the Vision Center. I gently reminded Bonnie that it won't always be that easy to get her glasses fixed, and the optician gently asked me if I bought the $10 frames (yes, ma'am, I sure did.). And we were only 15 minutes late to church. Good times.

Summer Fun

We're settling into life in our new house and staying busy. Josh is usually gone in the mornings and home in the afternoons, which is nice. I think the whole "living with Granny" thing is going really well. We seem to pretty much be staying out of each other's way, and I certainly can use all the help I can get. Mom stays busy working on picking stuff for her new house, going to lunch with her friends, and of course babysitting. Bonnie needs glasses; we picked those out today and I'll post pictures when we get them. So here are lots of pictures from the last few weeks:

We have a rather pathetic pool arrangement. Luckily they don't know any different this year. They don't really all play in here together. Usually the big kids run through the sprinklers or we squirt them with the hose. Noelle actually has a swimsuit; I just forgot I had bought her one. Just one more example of Mommy brain.
A few weeks ago we traveled down to New Branfels for the annual Jones family pow-wow (my term, not theirs =). We were SO excited that the new toll road around Austin is complete. Pretty great to go around Austin with hardly any cars in sight.
Bonnie hangs out in the back, and Kellen was helping with Noelle in this picture.

After we spent the weekend in New Braunfels (which was a lot of fun), Gran and Pa took the big kids back to Lubbock for Camp Gran and Pa. They (the kids - I can't speak for my in-laws) had so much fun. We traveled up to Lubbock to get the kids and visit for the July 4th holiday.

This past weekend I was so glad to travel to my college girlfriends' biannual reunion. It was great. We had 11 ladies and 4 kids coming and going this year. It was a fun, relaxing weekend with lots of conversation and food. We have known each other since 1996 and I personally feel so blessed to have such a group of friends. I think it's amazing that I got to go to Texas A&M and yet have the benefit of so many Christian friends. We missed those of you who couldn't make it this year. (Those of you who know these ladies, that's Kim's baby.)
So that's it for now! I'm waiting on the arrival of my new nephew and kind of hoping he'll be born before we go back to Lubbock next weekend.
